Golden "BIG Healey"

Im August 1967 wurde der Austin Healey 3000 mit der Chassis Nummer H-BJ8-L/42218 an seinen stolzen Erstbesitzer Mr. Gerald Tuciarone in Staten Island NY ausgeliefert.

Es handelte es sich dabei um ein Exemplar der in nur 520 Stück angefertigten Sonderserie in der Farbe "Golden Beige".

Der AH 3000 wurde im Jahr 2005 durch Marken-Spezialist Knut Holzer von der British Motor Corporation in Philadelphia / Pennsylvania (www.britishrestorationcorp.com) einer umfassenden Body-off-Restauration unterzogen. 

The disassembled car has been sandblasted, and every body panel coated in self-etching primer. The frame has been trued, the individual panels fitted and removed 6 times in the process, assuring that every body gap is precisely consistent. The drive train is completely rebuilt, the bracing perfect. All new hydraulics and braking system are fitted. Especially important to overall driveability is new wiring which incorporates a contemporary electronic ignition (a vast improvement over the original) and employs a new version of the wiring harness. 

The engine head and block are decked (or machined) for precise and perfect matching. The hardened valve stems and other updatings create an engine that runs on common nolead fuel. The engine is balanced to the tolerances of a high end racing motor. 

The Standox paint system is state of the art German engineering. Costing more than $500 a gallon, the restorer has enclosed every panel, and ever square inch of chassis in a product whose specific formula and color (the precise Colorado Red used by Healey in 1967) will always be available from the coating manufacturer. 

The sheet metal, where replaced, is recreated to factory specs. Holzer's shop uses only panels manufactured to original mill thickness, rather than lower quality replacement parts with a 30% thinner thickness. 

Nach der Restauration wurde der AH 3000 durch Jaguar Specialist Paul Toth einer genauen Prüfung unterzogen. Sein Fazit:

"I have inspected the Golden Beige Metallic 1967 Austin Healey 3000,

HBJ8L42218. The car was the subject of a complete ground up, nut and bolt

restoration. My professional opinion ofthe car is that it would be rated a

number one. This is a excellent quality car."

Das Heritage Certificate bescheinigt "Matching colour and numbers".

Der AH 3000 wurde im Sommer 2006 durch einen Schweizer CEO mit Wohnsitz in Erlenbach für $ 105'000 von Knut Holzer gekauft und in die Schweiz importiert.

Mit CH-Zulassung und als "Veteran" geprüft hat er während 10 Jahren gerade mal etwa 4000 Meilen zurück gelegt. 

Im August 2016 wurde der AH 3000 zum Kauf angeboten und steht seither in meiner Garage :-)
